Let me first point out that this is not a Salvation issue. If we become too focused on theological points like this, we are in danger of missing the whole point as we throw ourselves into a pursuit of theological gnats to strain at.
The exact time of when we are going to be raptured strikes me as more of a philosophical question when measured up against the obvious warnings that we will go through some very perilous times. It will be bad. We will be hated of all men for His name sake. That has not happened yet, but it will. Shouldn't we be more focused on preparing ourselves to have the spiritual strength to stand during these times? And to win as many souls as we can while we can? The times are coming when no man can stand.
That being said, here is a list of Scriptures that strike me as evidence that the Rapture and the 2nd Coming will occur at the same time:
2nd Thess 1:7-10 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
Parable of the Tares,
Matt. 13:30 - Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Mat 13:39-43 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Mat 13:47-50: Again, the kingdom of heaven
is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good
into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the
angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall
cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of
Dan 7:21, 22 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
1Cor. 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
Isa 26:19-21 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
2Pe 3:10-12: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Mark 13:24-27: But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
Mat 24:29-31: Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Same as Mark)
Titus 2:13: Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Luke 17:29-31: But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. (In other words, we will be here)
Isaiah 35:4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to
make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all
kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
(we will be here to face the AntiChrist)
2Thess. 2:1-3 Now we beseech you,
brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together
unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit,
nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there
come a falling away first (this is not the gathering),
and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth
himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God
sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Matt. 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. (Question: we are being warned of this terrible time 3 times, in Matt, Mark, and Daniel, because it says we will face it. But by shortening the time, does it mean that He will bring it all to a final end precipitously? or that we will get out of here early? It doesn't really say, does it?)
Matt 24:26-27 Wherefore if they shall say
unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret
chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and
shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
(That's where you should be looking because you will be here)
Dan 12:8-10: "And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand ...
but the wise shall understand."
Rev. 14:13: " And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." (how bad is it when the Lord says it will be a blessing to die?)
One more scripture.
Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour
knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the
(If Jesus didn't know when He was on Earth, why is it so important for us to figure it out?)
